Discovering Home
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Join The ME Project. As some may know, I live in what’s called the Tri-State area, a meeting place of West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. Growing up, I spent a lot of time traveling between the states. But I still don’t know of all of the wonderful gems in these areas.
So I’m announcing a new project, on my site, Discovering Home. With this project, I will be making guides for known and unknown places within the Tri-State area. And if you’ve read the title, you know where I’m starting.
Top 5 Things To Do in Columbus, Ohio
Along with being the capital city of Ohio, it offers so many activities for you to do both free and some affordable. Let’s get into my top five list.
1. North Market
This is a market where you can truly find just about everything you need. Made and sourced locally by merchants, farmers, and makers. North Market was established in 1876 so by visiting and supporting, you are helping local small businesses and a piece of history.
Upcoming Events
- Mix & Shake- Saturday, March 9th
- Apron Gala- Saturday, May 18th
- Farmer’s Market- Each weekend during the growing season
2. The Candle Lab
I’m a true believer in self-care and creating the right environment that promotes relaxation. The Candle Lab fits right into that equation. Inside the shop, you can experience making your own soy-based candle. If DIY is not your style, simply buy the candles, diffusers, room sprays, and more.
Upcoming Events
- Pour with your Pups- Wednesday, March 6th
- St. Patty’s Cocktails, Cookies, & Candles- Thursday, March 14th
3. Columbus Museum of Art
I feel museums are one of those places where you can spend hours at a time, especially when you are not in a rush. General admission for the Columbus Museum of Art is free on Sundays.
Upcoming Events
- Art Book Club- Sunday, March 3rd
- Spotlight Tour at Pizzuti Collection- Saturday, March 30th
4. The Book Loft
Located within the German Village, The Book Loft is one of the largest independent bookstores. It’s literally 32 rooms of books. You are instructed to pick up a map to help you navigate the store.
Upcoming Events
- Charlie J. Eskew- Sunday, March 3rd
- Local Authors at The Loft- Sunday, March 10th
- Conrade C. Hinds- Sunday, March 24th
5. Columbus Zoo & Aquarium
One of the most known places to visit is, of course, the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. But what would a top ten list be without it? It hosts more than 7,000 animals and 800 species.
Upcoming Events
- Camp and Activities Expo- Saturday, March 9th
- Eggs, Paws, and Claws- Friday, April 19th
- Party for the Planet- Saturday, April 27th
